MONTREAL – June 6, 2016 – Remstar Studios is proud to announce the co-financing and co-production of its first project, An Ideal Home, starring Paul Rudd (ANT-MAN) and Oscar nominee Steve Coogan (PHILOMENA). Written and directed by Andrew Fleming (HAMLET 2), the film is currently underway in New Mexico where principal photography began on May 11.
Maxime Rémillard and Clark Peterson from Remstar Studios produce alongside Aaron Ryder (THE FOUNDER, MUD), Maria Theresa Arida (ARBITRAGE), and Gabriella Tana (PHILOMENA, THE DUCHESS). Lisa Wolofsky from the National Bank of Canada executive produces.
The film is the first project co-financed by Remstar Studios and the Fonds Capital Culture Quebec since the creation of the Fonds Partenaires Capital Remstar S.E.C. for production.
In AN IDEAL HOME, Paul (Rudd) and Erasmus (Coogan) are a bickering couple with an extravagant life. Erasmus is a demanding, popular celebrity, while Paul is his more hesitant partner and sidekick. But when Bill, the grandson Erasmus never knew he had, shows up at their high class dinner party with nowhere else to go, the couple reluctantly decide to take him in.
“As our first production, An Ideal Home represents the type of projects that we are looking to finance and produce moving forward,” says Maxime Rémillard. “It is the kind of film that can be both funny and moving, with a cast that definitely has strong appeal for the North American and international markets.”
Remstar Films, sister company of Remstar Studios, has acquired all Canadian rights in all media to the feature film.
With offices in Los Angeles and Montreal, Remstar Studios is a content production and financing venture. Part of the Montreal-based financier Remstar Group, the company will greenlight a second project by the end of the year.
Clark Peterson is a prolific film producer, having produced such films as MONSTER, for which Charlize Theron won the Best Actress Oscar®, and RAMPART, starring Woody Harrelson. Maxime Remillard most recently developed, financed and produced POLYTECHNIQUE, directed by Denis Villeneuve, while Remstar Films ensured the Canadian success of a number of productions as a distributor, including films like THE WRESTLER, DON JON and DALLAS BUYERS CLUB.
